The Art Department at Shooters Hill Sixth Form College is a vibrant, creative environment where students are encouraged to experiment, push boundaries, and develop their individual style.
Our creative courses are designed to nurture both technical skill and conceptual thinking, preparing students for a creative higher education or a career in the creative industries.
As part of this initiative, the SHC/ART website provides students with a real-world platform to showcase and sell their work as well as accept commissions. This experience plays a vital role in preparing aspiring artists for the practical and commercial aspects of a creative career. By engaging on real client commissions, discussing ideas, budgets, and producing art for sale, students develop valuable professional skills such as communication, negotiation, time management, and creative problem-solving, giving them a strong foundation for future opportunities in the arts.
SHC/ART has been a fantastic opportunity for our students to experience what it truly means to be a working artist. It bridges the gap between education and the creative industry, giving them hands-on experience with real clients, commissions, and the professional expectations that come with them. Seeing students grow in confidence, take ownership of their work, and engage with a wider audience has been incredibly rewarding.
